. Rare German language edition of the tales of E. T. A. Hoffman with colour illustrations, in good condition but with slight springing out on pages 120-121. This book is undated, but appears to be from between 1895 and 1905, and was published by G. Löwensohn. E. T. A Hoffman was a very popular author in the 19th century and one of the major authors of the Romantic movement, his stories include 'The Sandman', 'The Nutcracker and Mouse King' and 'Das Fräulein von Scuderi', sometimes cited as the first detective novel. This collection contains 'Der Siegeswagen: Historische Erzählung aus den Jahren 1806-1814', 'Das Wiederfehen: Historische Erzählung aus dem deutsch-französischen Kriege', 'Die Pioniere, oder: Die Quellen des Susquehanna', 'Die Prairie, oder: Der Wildfteller', 'Aus dem deutschen Einigungskriege', 'Die Tierkarawane in Nubien' and 'Die Linde im Burghofe zu Nürnberg'.
