Hutchinson's History of the Nations

£49.99

Product description

The volumes are described as 'a popular, concise, pictorial and authoritative account of each nation from the earliest times to the present day'. The date of publication is not given but we think it was around 1915. Each volume contains several hundred illustrations including a number of attractive, full-page colour plates.
The 4 large volumes are handsomely bound in red half leather with gilt decoration and title on the spine. The covers have relatively mild signs of wear and some scuffing and a few small marks mainly along the edges and corners. The gilt numbering on the spine of volumes 3 and 4 has worn off. The binding of all 4 volumes is sound and the pages, slightly yellowed with age, are generally clean and unmarked. There is some foxing affecting the end-papers and the back of the full-colour plates.
