Bumped corners, scuffed spine, slight tanning of pages. Binding in great condition, with only small wear marks visible. Previous owner has written within the first page. All pages are still held together securely.

Bound in a cornflower blue cloth, embossed with gold gilt text along the cover and spine. Small loss of colour on the edges of the spine material.

Published in 1945.

Eric Charles Hiscock was a British sailor and author of books on small boat sailing and ocean cruising. Together with his wife and crew Susan Oakes Hiscock, he authored numerous accounts of their short cruises and world circumnavigations, accomplished over several decades. His works also include several technical how-to books on sailing and ocean cruising and a film made on board Wanderer III entitled Beyond The West Horizon.

Darlington is one of the largest Oxfam shops in the country. We sell a large and varied range of good quality mens, womens and childrenswear in a range of labels from High Street to Designer. We also have a range of beautiful Bridalwear and Retro clothing, and a huge choice of accessories to compliment any outfit and occasion. 

On the first floor we have a large books and music room with comfortable seating provided, so that you can take your time while browsing and pick the perfect item. We have a vast and ever changing selection of Homewares and Bric-a-Brac, from bargain items to antiques and everything in between. We stock Fairtrade food and drinks, gifts and cards all year round, and we have an amazing Christmas range, with gifts to suit all tastes and budgets. 

We also run an Online Shop from our Online Suite, sending high quality clothing, books and records all over the world. We have a Facebook page, full of information on what we do in store and how your support helps fight poverty all over the world. 

We have a large and varied team of volunteers, and we are always looking for new people to join our team. We have dozens of opportunities, including Customer Service, Stock Handling, Social Media, Online Sales, Book Sales, and many, many more.
