Bristol: W. Crofton Hemmons 269 pages, numerous b&w illustration and five plates including one of WInscombe, and one of WInterhead. Undated, but probably circa 1896. Decorative binding blocked in black and white on green with a picture of a mole-catcher, which is drawn from one of the photographic plates (page 124). End-papers foxed but otherwise a very nice copy printed on quality paper. Not worn or faded. The book is a charming period piece describing the countryside and natural history of the west country of England. It covers the local history of Somerset, Devon and Cornwall as well as the inhabitants, towns, villages and natural history.
