Indian Sporting birds

£250.00

Product description

Indian Sporting Birds - Frank Finn

Published Francis Edwards. London, 1915. 1st edition. 280pp.

Faded, scuffed and stained red boards with gilt tiles. Spine sunned with fraying at ends and a 2cm closed tear at the head, thus exposing the inner binding. Tanned end papers with publishing defects apparent on paste down. Owner's signature on paste down (Edwards, 31. 1. 38). Heavily deckled edges to tail and fore edges.

Each species has a detailed and authoritative description of its habits and characteristics, and many (103) have accompanying beautiful chrome-lithographic prints (by F waller, Hatton Garden), taken from Hume and Marshall's "Game-birds of India, Burma and Ceylon". Some cracking to inner sections.
The owner has neatly written the English species name at the bottom of each plate. This does not detract in any way from the book's appeal.

Oxfam Bookshop Market Harborough

Oxfam is the UK's largest second hand bookseller. Oxfam bookshops offer a wider selection of books than most shops, from modern fiction and leisure interest to more specialist subjects, classics, and rare or collectable books. We also stock an attractive range of greetings cards and a good selection of stationery. Come and browse!

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
