An extremely rare edition of Jurisdictions or The Lawful Authority of Courts Leet, Courts Baron, Court of Marfhallfeyes, Court of Pypowder and Ancient Demefne by John Kitchin. This is a second edition of this book published in 1653 by M Walbanck at Gray- Inne Gate, H twyford in Vine Court Middle Temple and J Place at Furnivals Inne Gate in Holborn.

This book helped to lay the foundation of modern legal theory. It also contains the Most Necessary Learning of Tenures, And All Their Incidents of Essoyns, Imparlance, View; Of All Manner of Pleadings, Of Contracts, Of the Nature of All Sorts of Actions, Of Maintenance; Of Divers Other Things Very Profitable for All Students of Innes of Court and Chancery: And a Most Perfect Directory for All Stewards of Any the Said Courts and A Demonftrative Table Pointing Out All Matter of Confequence Throughout the Whole Work.

The book is still tightly bound in its original leather cover and there are not any missing pages. There is an old repair to the first page (see photo) and a few of the internal pages have light pencil marks to the edges. There is banding to the spine but no book title on the outer cover. The leather has small indentation marks to the front and back, the spine has fading to the edges and the top, bottom and side edges have gilt 'dots' in decoration. The internal pages are discoloured as is appropriate to the age of this book.
