L'abbesse de Castro (Chronique Italienne)

£14.99

Product description

L'abbesse de Castro is a delightful children's story written by Stendhel as part of his Chronique Italienne collection. This particular copy was published in 1942 and released as a special centenary edition available exclusively in the Librairie Flammarion, Rue Racine, Paris. This copy is number 129 of 1530 printed.

Written entirely in French, this book is adorned throughout with full colour illustrations by Georges Lepape.

Good condition. Externally, red leather hardboards are worn with bumping and scuffing present. Front cover is actually detached from the rest of the book. Paper on the spine is beginning to fray and come loose.

Internally, binding is tight with pages generally free of any writing, highlighting or markings. There is an inscription by the previous owner on the front free endpaper as well as some light coloured pencil markings. Roughly cut page edges.

A stunning antiquarian book for anybody interested in the French language or the works of Stendhel.
