Product description

Three volume set of books published by John Murray in 1877. The covers are tan coloured half leather with marbled boards, the marbling continues on the page edges and on the end papers. The leather parts are gilt decorated with raised bands on the spine. The title plates are a little lighter in colour than the tan cover and the titles are also in gilt. Inside the front covers a previous owner's name plate is tipped in. All the books have some light foxing near the covers but are clean throughout the remainder of the books, all are bright and tightly bound. Volume I covers the period from Abraham to Samuel and contains 4 maps and 1 ground plan. Volume II covers the period Samuel to the Captivity and contains 3 maps plus the family tree, or 'Pedigree of the House of Saul'. Volume III covers the Captivity to the Christian Era with 2 maps included. The whole three volumes contain the scripts of 50 lectures.
