Memoirs of Great Britain and Ireland Volume II

£70.00

Product description

Published in 1773 by David Hay of Dublin. Original tan leather covers with red title plate on the spine, the lettering and lines either side of the raised bars on the spine are in gilt. The corners are bumped. The front and back covers are plain with no titles or decoration but they are somewhat stained. This volume is a little crooked, it is wider at the lower end of the book than the upper end and some of the print, which is straight, looks crooked as a result. Internally the book is not very clean, there is a little foxing but mainly the dirt is just old age and use. A previous owner's name plate is affixed to the inside cover. The full title is: "Memoirs of Great Britain and Ireland from the Dissolution of the last Parliament of Charles II until the Sea-Battle off La Hogue. Volume The Second Consisting chiefly of Letters from the French Ambassadors in England, to their Court; and from Charles II James II. King William and Queen Mary, and the Ministers and Generals of those Princes. Taken from the Depot des Affaires estrangeres at Versailles, and King William's private Cabinet at Kensington. Interspersed with Historical Relations, necessary to connect the Papers together." The whole contents are appendices.
