Narrative of Discovery and Adventure in Africa: With Illustrations of the Geology, Mineralogy and Zoology

£50.00

Product description

A good copy of this rare antiquarian book complete with black and white illustrations and maps including one foldout map. This is the Sixth Edition of this book which appears to have been rebound in green boards (possibly the original front and back boards have been incorporated with the new binding) with gilt titles and detailing on the covers and spine. There are only minor signs of shelfwear to the boards and spine. Internally the pages are clean and tight but one of the endpapers has come partially loose opposite the title page. There are several owners inscriptions written in ink on the endpapers dating from 1850 to 1950 as well as a library stamp on the title page. The detailed folded map of Africa is complete and attached on page 16. It has a 2cm closed tear where the map is attached to the page at the bottom and there are a few minor spots of foxing on the map. Overall this book is in great condition considering its age and would be a lovely addition for anyone interested in nineteenth century Africa.
