Nooks and Corners of Pembrokeshire

£65.00

Product description

An early travel book for West Wales. Much reproduced for the "print on demand" audience but this is the original and in very good condition. Multiple very attractive black and white drawings. As well as being a traveller, writer and geographer (Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society) Timmins was no mean artist as these pictures bear witness.
Eliot Stock hardback with no DJ. Ochre boards with decorative black lettering on front and spine together with a gilt embossed lilly on the front. The boards are beveled. A little wear to the top and bottom of the spine, the corners and the edges. The canvas has been revealed at the lower part of the front hinge internally but it is still fully functional; the rear hinge is fine. A little foxing of the early end pages. The frontispiece of the Rood Screen of St David's Cathedral has a transparency protection. Two fold out maps. The pages show a little generalised tanning and their trimming is sharp and neat but not always accurately aligned.

A really nice copy of this sought after book
