Notes on Collecting and Preserving Natural History Objects

£74.99

Product description

This delightful book, edited by J E Taylor, was published by W H Allen & Co in 1883 and is a first edition. Various authors contributed to the contents (J E Taylor; E C Rye; J B Bridgman: Professor Ralph Tate et al) The book is a collection of essays intended to furnish those with an interest in natural history, useful and accurate information about the subject. Some of the chapter headings include: Geological Specimens; Bones; Birds' Eggs; Butterflies and Moths; Beetles; Hymenoptera; Fungi; Lichens and much more besides. The book is fully illustrated with black and white drawings. The book is in very good condition for its age but does show foxing to outside edge of pages. Foxing also evident to first few pages; e.g. half title page, title page, preface, contents, but this then dissipates. Hardback cover is very good, but shows bumping to corners and rubbing to spine. Gold leaf inlaid illustrations and title very well retained. Spine title very good. A great book for collectors or lovers of natural history who would like a late 19th century book to add to their library.
