£9.50

Product description

Publisher: Basil Blackwell, Oxford, 1927, 1st edition. Hardback, 220 pages, illus with 8 lovely tipped-in colour plates and numerous b&w drawings in the text. No dustjacket. Various well known contributing authors. Cover, in light grey and brown decorated boards with brown titling to front and spine, is in fair condition commensurate with age, with some fading and rubbing to spine and light rubbing / shelfwear to edges. Internally the book is in fair condition for its age, with generally clean and bright text pages and illustrations. However the binding has significantly loosened along joints at three or four points in the book although no pages are actually detached and overall the book is fairly secure. There is some foxing to the endpapers and some faint traces of rubbed out pencil scribble on the contents page and one other and one or two faint grubby marks in a couple of places, otherwise the book is clean and clear. The 8 charming tipped-in colour plates are truly outstanding as are the lovely black and white drawings throughout the text. Lovely stories by many well known authors such as Walter de la Mare, Compton Mackenzie, Rose Fyleman, Lord Dunsany, Eleanor Farjeon, Algernon Blackwood, Hilaire Belloc
