Observations on the Social and Political State of the European People in 1848 and 1849

£29.99

Product description

The author has travelled frequently throughout Europe and writes this as the second in his series Notes of a Traveller. He regards the events of the half-century prior to 1850 - the changes and improvements in the material, intellectual and social condition of the European people - as eminently important and influential on the future generations of civilised society. He finds that royalty, aristocracy, church power and feudalism are diminishing in importance, whereas communications and interchanges of ideas between the people of different countries are increasing, with all Europe advancing towards one goal.

This hard cover book (no d/j) is in good condition. The cover is sun bleached on the front and rear. It is re-bound ex library book and has stickers and markings inside the front cover. There is some age related fading/yellowing and dust staining, but no foxing - i.e. signs of wear consistent with age. This does not affect the legibility of the text.
