An internally well preserved copy of these two scarce natural history essays by eighteenth century academics, both presumed first editions and uniformly bound in this single volume. 1797

Early library binding in half tan leather, marbled boards. Edgeworn, spine edges splitting and spine missing (top 1/3 including title label enclosed). Brown eps with scientific library stamp and small ink drawing ffep, neat owner name dated 1846 front pastedown. Text block otherwise original, binding secure. Red speckled edges browned, scattered foxing, library stamp top dedication page. Otherwise internally unmarked. pp [ii] vi [x] 129. Followed by: An Essay on Animal Reproductions by Abbé Spallanzani, F.R.S. translated from the Italian; T. Becket & P. A. de Hondt, London 1769. pp iv, 86.
