This antique hardback by Edmund Bogg from 1904 is a delightful insight into the local history of the Leeds area, or the old Kingdom of Elmet. Full title 'The Old Kingdom of Elmet: The Land 'Twixt Aire and Wharfe. A descriptive sketch of its Ancient History, Antiquities, Legends, Picturesque Features and its Flora, being a Companion volume to 'Lower Wharfeland', this book contains over 160 illustrations depicting the remnants of Norman, Saxton, and Tudor history, and local features local and manmade. Published by John Sampson (York), John Heywood (London; Manchester). The endpapers consist of adverts for household items.

This book is in fair condition. Front cover is intact in khaki cloth hard board, with bumping to the corner. Endpapers are quite heavily discoloured, although the text is clear and readable. The spine is in poor condition and the binding is visible, although intact (see images)

This book would be of interest to any local historians of the region
