Routledge's Handbook of Fishing

£19.99

Product description

This little book is one of the "Routledge Railway Library Advertiser" collection and there is a list of the complete series opposite the Contents page. There is no author and no date in this booklet but one of the advertisements at the back is dated 1884 and our book is "Second issue", the initial publication having been in 1869. The title page boasts "with illustrations" and there are several of them with no artists credited.
Routledge hardback with no DJ. It has had a hard life. The front board has a pictorial decoration of tackle and creel with decorative surround. The edges and corners show moderate wear. The rear board has a vertical partial crease from top to bottom. The front hinge internally is completely sprung but the rear one is intact. There is a stamp of F T Williams and Co fishing rod and tackle vendors on the first page. The text block is intact but the leading edges of the pages are a little tanned and, in some cases, irregular. End pages have advertisements on them.
A nice little book, for all that it is somewhat worn.
