The story of The Zenana Bible and medical mission.
This book is the authorised story of the Missions which pioneered education, medical work and evangelism among India's women.
It begins in the 1820s. Its a story of courage and self-sacrifice, and its full of colour and incident- the Maharani's locket, for instance handed to Queen Victoria personally by a missionary on furlough, leading to an increase of women's hospitals all over India. Intrepid personalities cross the pages, such as Miss Harvey of Nasik, or "Granny" Pollen, widow of an I.C.S Officer. who returned well on in life to open evangelistic work in the place where he had been magistrate.
