Stories from Xenophon

£9.99

Product description

Tan full leather cover with gilt embellishment in the form of Art Nouveau surround and in the centre a shield with a diagonal bar bearing the work 'Persequar'. Beneath the shield are the words 'Clarendon House School, Southport.' The spine is also decorated in gilt in the form of panels with the title in the second panel from the top. Attached to the inside front cover is a sticker dated Midsummer 1912 to state that this book was awarded as a prize for needlework, the name of the recipient is quite difficult to read but it looks like 'Gwynneth Marde'. The book contains 16 illustrations, including the frontispiece which is the only one protected with tissue paper. Some of the illustrations are by Patten Wilson and some are photographs of carvings or busts. There is a lot of foxing throughout the book and the pages have been hand cut, but not all of them, a few at the back of the book have not been cut at all. Written by H L Havell and published by George G Harrap on 1910.
