The Adventures of Captain Blake or My Life

£14.99

Product description

Maxwell came from Anglo-Irish stock. He enlisted in the British army and is said to have taken part in the Peninsular campaign and the battle of Waterloo, although these claims are contested. His autobiography was first published in 1836 in three volumes and went through a number of subsequent editions. His work is described as being that of a "romantic rollicking Irish gent."

Routledge hardback with no date. Half leather binding. Marbled boards. Gilt lettering to spi9ne with wear to the bottom and, particularly, the top. Corner and edge wear to the boards. No marks but the binding is suspect with pp 19 - 22 being held by a mere thread or actually totally separate. The remainder of the binding is good.

A book much supplied by print on demand but here in an original probably fairly early edition. Marred by the page binding - hence the price.
