A quite stunning large hardback children’s book entitled " The Ballad of Mr. Rook " written by George Wyndham or G.W. with illustrations by the Hon Mrs. Percy Wyndham . This is an extremely rare book written for the children of a British family. Published by Smith Elder Company of London 1901 and measuring 16.5" x 17.5" (41.5 x 44 cm). Condition: Cloth covered boards have seen better days having water damage to the front top edge, rubbing and general wear , shelfwear to the spine with a 20mm tear to the head otherwise intact and moderate corner bumps. Most of the interior pages have a light crease running from top to bottom, are a little tanned and stained on the text pages in places and have small tears to the foredge on some pages. Back front and back FEP are detached from the binding, hinge is cracked on the pastedown. The binding string is broken on some of the pages Illustrations are all present and in vibrant clean condition. A wonderful book with delightful illustrations.
