Product description

The Bet and other stories by Anton Tchekhov. Containing - The Bet, A Tedious Story, The Fit, Misfortune, After the Theatre, That Wretched Boy, Enemies, A Trifling Occurrence, A Gentleman Friend, Overwhelming Sensations, Expensive Lessons, A Living Calendar, Old Age.

These stories were translated by S. Koteliansky and J. M. Murry and published as part of the Modern Russian Library, in 1915.

Hard back book. No dust jacket. Bound in very dark green (which for some reason shows as blue in out photographs), gild lettering on the cover and spine, and blind stamped on the cover with the names of the translators and The Modern Russian Library. There are a number of marks on the cover and there is some splitting along one edge of the spine. The page edges are discoloured and marked. There is discolouration on the front and back end pieces, and some tearing along the spine edges of the front and back covers. Apart from the very front and back of the book, the pages are very clear and show only a few spots and no annotations.
