Full calf binding with gilt tooling and lettering to the spine, marbled endpapers and page edges. Volume 1, Books 1-4 317 pages Volume II, Books V - VIII 302 pages . With 20 steel engraved etchings and 200 woodcuts by John Leech throughout the text. All the plates present ( one loose, chipped). No date given [ 1870 ] Boards disbound, rubbed and spine faded, sporadic stains and brown edges throughout, but many pages are unaffected and remain bright and clean. An inscription on the ffep reads " In remembrance of many kindnesses on board the ' Malabar', Oct. 1874 M.A.Black 15th Regiment.
