£14.99

Product description

Thomas Murby & Co, London, 1937, first edition in translation, hardback with D/W, 8vo, pp xii + 220 + [16], tables & diagrams within the text.

A translation of a work by a leading Russian pedologist of the time in which he attempted to write a comprehensive account of the "crust of weathering". The author had worked for many years on problems which have a direct connection with the processes of weathering and this book draws on the results of his investigations as well as the results of the work of others with relevance to the topic. Book includes a 16 page catalogue to rear of "Murby's Books in Science".

Very good condition book. Blue cloth boards with gilt lettering and embossing to spine. Boards are clean with just minor rubbing and bumping to extremities, binding sound. Pages are tanned but unmarked. Ffep shows differential tanning with lighter area where in contact with d/w. Ownership inscription on ffep.

Dustwrapper is in fair condition. Edges and spine are grubby and discoloured. There are closed tears and chipping to head and tail of spine and rubbing to folds. There is some loss of paper at flap corners. Price clipped.

Oxfam Books & Music Jesmond

We are a specialist shop nestled in the heart of Jesmond, a lovely residential area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We opened in July 2010 and have on offer 5,000 books, 2,000 records, CDs and games as well as sheet music, cards and stationery within the shop. Our shop has high ceilings and a nice, bright and airy feel. We are gaining a very good reputation in the Rare and Collectable books and vinyl community, but also do a roaring trade in contemporary fiction and modern non-fiction. We also organise live music and book events and aim to be a hub of culture in this wonderfully tight-knit community.
