Blindstamped brown cloth. shows many signs of wear, no jacket as issued. Part of the spine is missing on this volume but the covers are still attached.
Volume I of 2 vols., contains 48 hand-coloured plates in fine and bright condition, with tissue paper separators, plus one steel engraved portrait of Dr Good at rear. Unpaginated. Though this is not considered the first edition, it is a greatly expanded edition. An earlier edition (1845) contained considerably fewer colour plates. There are 8 pp. ads in rear and newspaper cuttings from 1878 etc. have been stuck on front pages.
