The Four Just Men, Edgar Wallace. 1905 First Edition

£5.99

Product description

The Tallis Press, 1905. First Edition with the fold out frontispiece and with the competition slip at rear. Competition slip is detached from perforations but not completed.

Yellow/mustard cloth covered boards titled in black. Inscribed on inside front cover with previous owners signatures. Cloth covers a little marked and slight bumps to corners. Pages yellowed else bright and tight.

The Tallis Press was Wallace's own publishing venture, founded 'in a moment of magnificent optimism'. It published only three books, and though The Four Just Men sold 38,000 copies, it lost its author-publisher £1,400: 'there was, I discovered, such a thing as over-advertising'.

A nice copy of this rare book.
