The Freemen of Nottingham

£50.00

Product description

The book begins 'In endeavouring to trace the history of the freemen with the view of accounting for the acquisition of that property, the possession of which has given rise to so many angry discussions, we shall have occasion to travel far into the distant past.' Henry S. Cropper, the author, was Sheriff of Nottingham from 1880-81 and his company made letterpresses, which were used until the 1980s.

R. Kilborn, 1880.
Softback book, feels like leather.

Book is in fair condition for its age (it's over 130 years old!). The cover is fairly discoloured and there is foxing throughout. There are a couple of small holes in the spine.

A great book for those interested in the view of history from the nineteenth century. Also a wonderful book for those familiar with the greater Nottingham area.
