The Reverend Bellamy composed this little book of sermons for his fellow brethren, realising that visitations to the sick, particularly in cases of long sickness, presented a difficulty when trying to find an suitable messages week after week. There are special sermons for those who unaccustomed to suffering, those facing an operation, and those near to death. The author's basic tenet is that sickness can be a means to the greater glorification of God, and is not incompatible with God's desire for human happiness. The sermons include : Thankfulness and Courage; "The Valley of Weeping"; Sorrow Turned to Joy; Peace; Simon the Cyrenian; The Making of Hope; Forgiveness and Cheer; The Lord Before and Beside Us; Renewal of Strength; The Coming of the Master; Partakers. BOOK CONDITION : G+ : minor bumping and minor denting; slight shelfwear at some edges of cloth; minor rubbing to cloth; otherwise covers and cloth in very good shape; gilding at spine intact and bright; faces mildly foxed; blank endpapers slightly foxed; elsewhere an occasional speck of foxing; thumb print to lower margin of page 97p otherwise pages with slight toning, but in very good shape; owner's name to top of blank ffep; minor cracking at page 70 but nothing loose and all holding well; Bookseller Inventory 001454 D17
