The History of England Volume Two

£40.00

Product description

This second volume (of three) rare books was written by D Smottell and W Jones and published by James Semple of Glasgow in the mid-19th century sets out from the time of Charles I in 1641 through to George II in 1757. The book is illustrated with 64 photo-tint portraits. The book is in poor condition because the front board is moving away from the sine and cotton binding is exposed at free front end page. Internally, pages bear heavy foxing here and there. Outside edge of gilt-edged pages show some dirty marks here and there. Hardback cover lather corners are bumped, rusted and worn. There is a tea cup stain ring on the front and a paint splodge. The spine is particularly poor with leather cracked, broken and peeling away; titling not legible, heavily rusted. A book for collectors, or those searching for the missing Volume Two!
