A well preserved first edition copy of this study of "Antiquity and Natural History" in the Glasgow area, with a note on bfep "bound by Hewart, Glasgow 1798".

Full brown marbled effect leather, gilt border dentelles and decorative spine, black morocco title label. Edgeworn, leather surface crazed with tiny losses. Inner hinges cracked but binding firm. Marbled eps. Bookplate front pastedown and gift letter (1894) tipped in to ffep. Neat pen/pencil notes ffep reverse and a few small marginalia, 3rd ffep edgeworn and marked, scattered foxing but overall internally unmarked. viii, 334, [22] pp; 21 b&w plates of which 2 foldout (1 with tear to fore-edge).
