The History of the Adventures of Joseph Andrews and his Friend Mr Abraham Adams - In 2 Volumes

£24.99

Product description

"Written in imitation of the Manner of Cervantes, Author of Don Quixote". In 2 volumes , this edition published in 1926 by Basil Blackwell, The Shakespeare Head Edition of Fielding's Novels.

This was the first published full-length novel of the English author and magistrate Henry Fielding, and indeed among the first novels in the English language. Originally published in 1742 and defined by Fielding as a 'comic epic poem in prose', it is the story of a good-natured footman's adventures on the road home from London with his friend and mentor, the absent-minded parson Abraham Adams.

Deep red boards are a little darkened but are in very good condition. Page edges are rough cut (untrimmed) and have some foxing. Gilt top edge.
