The Hobbit

£325.00

Product description

PRICE DROPPED FROM £400 TO £325! THERE WILL NOT BE ANY FURTHER REDUCTION! BE QUICK :)

This is a Second Edition (11th impression) of Tolkien's beloved prequel to his Lord of the Rings books. The jacket and boards have been carefully wrapped in an acid-free, conservation grade, PVC protective film. This has been done in a very sturdy manner. No adhesive or sticky-tape has been used where it would be in contact with the book or where it would be visible, it is only on the reverse of the dust jacket. This has not coloured or stained the printing on the jacket at all.

The dust jacket is overall in Very Good condition. There is a very small tear at the top and bottom of the spine and some minor signs of wear to the top and bottom edges of the jacket. A little foxing is evident in lighter areas, otherwise this is a very well preserved example which has not been price clipped.

The book is in Near Fine condition, with green cloth boards which are adorned with black decoration and titling. Negligible shelf wear to the board's edges. Some very minor lightening to the top and bottom of the book's spine, otherwise they are in excellent condition. Completely free from bumps, tears and stains. The top page edge is tanned and the fore and bottom edge have some slight foxing. The end papers are composed of maps of the lands encountered in the story. A full colour frontispiece, drawn by Tolkien, faces the title page which bears some signs of the book's age with some patchy discolouration likely from handling. However, the text of the book itself is completely clean and free from any marks, stains or discolouration.

This is an exquisite example of a timeless classic which any collector would be proud to own.
