The Hounds of Sparta

£17.99

Product description

W H Allen, London, 1968, first edition, hardback with dust-wrapper, 12mo, pp 240. In Athens and Crete, London and Scotland, on land and sea, pursuing and pursued, seduced and shot at, dying of love for blonde Tina and brunette Emma, Paul Baker, that rather extraordinary errand boy for Mr Chatham's equally extraordinary counter-espionage outfit, struggles doggedly on to the end and a surprising climax. Very good condition book. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine. Head and tail of spine are bumped but otherwise boards are clean and undamaged. Pages are tanned and the top edges, when closed, show some foxing but otherwise they are clean and undamaged and the binding firm. Dust-wrapper is in fair condition with small chips and tears to the upper and lower edges. It is grubby particularly along folds and there is a 25mm partially open tear on the rear fold. It is not price clipped.

Oxfam Books & Music Jesmond

We are a specialist shop nestled in the heart of Jesmond, a lovely residential area of Newcastle Upon Tyne. We opened in July 2010 and have on offer 5,000 books, 2,000 records, CDs and games as well as sheet music, cards and stationery within the shop. Our shop has high ceilings and a nice, bright and airy feel. We are gaining a very good reputation in the Rare and Collectable books and vinyl community, but also do a roaring trade in contemporary fiction and modern non-fiction. We also organise live music and book events and aim to be a hub of culture in this wonderfully tight-knit community.
