The author, Jules Michelet (1798 – 1874) was a French historian. This is an unusual book being both wordy and descriptive, Michelet looks at and describes the insect world whilst philosophically analysing its existence.

In good condition with rubbing wear and bumping to covers, some discolouration to the spine. Prize book plate on inside cover. Pages and end papers have some foxing. Pen marks on front end paper. Binding sound.
