T Nelson and Sons, 1905, Thomson W. M. Hardback, No DJ. Book Condition: Used - Good, The book shows a little shelf-wear to the head and foot of the spine. There is some foxing to the front endpapers, the final page(s?) of the index is missing. Pages are bright and clear throughout with no annotations or inscriptions. The book includes a map in colour and a number of illustrations (see photos).
The author entertains the opinion that much has been published upon Biblical Illustration which recent research has shown to be incorrect or rendered superfluous; and much, also, that does not properly belong to the subject. Erudite and curious inquiries into the life and conduct of patriarchs, prophets, and kings, for example, though valuable contributions to religious knowledge, are plainly out of place in such works; and the same remark applies to extended critical and exegetical discussion.
