The Land of the Broads

£24.99

Product description

The rewritten and much longer second edition of this guide, which is now illustrated, includes an additional 50 miles of river and many more villages. A coloured fold-out ½ inch to the mile map of the area, drawn by the author, is included at the front. The guide is designed for anyone with an interest in the archaeology, history, topography or sporting possibilities of the area.

Yellow-green boards with gold lettering and illustrations on the front and spine. Decorative end papers, with previous owner and manuscript “with the authors Compt’s”on the front. Numerous wood cuts throughout the text and a few on single pages. 322 + viii pages, including index. Eight further unnumbered pages of local information on railway connections, boat yards and accommodation.
Some slight staining on the cover and spine shows signs of buckling, text box beginning to wear down front end papers, but does not detract from the text.

An attractive introduction to a holiday on the broads probably published in the 1890’s.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-Op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
