John Cunningham Geikie (1824 – 1906) was a Scottish-born minister and author, primarily active first in Toronto, Canada, and then in England. Geikie enjoyed a wide reputation as a writer of popular books on biblical and religious subjects. His 'Life and Words of Christ' was first published in two volumes in 1868 with later editions from 1891 being combined into one. The popularity of the text is attested to be the fact that it reached a circulation of nearly 100,000 copies. Whilst this volume was published in London, later editions were also released in New York. Since 2010 there have been several reprints of this title.
