Publisher: S.W. Partridge and Co., London, c 1880. Hardback, 237 pages, pictorial cover and many illustrations in black and white. 5th Edition-Seventeenth Thousand. No dustjacket. Cover, in grey cloth boards with gilt, red, blue, black and green titling, designs and cover illustration, is in fair to good condition commensurate with age with some general shelfwear, bumping to spine extremities and a small tear at bottom of spine. Book itself is in fair condition commensurate with age, with some foxing to endpapers and some light tanning throughout but text and illustration pages are remarkably clean and clear. Binding separating at front and rear endpapers and frontispiece is loose, however binding of page block is still reasonably firm and tight. Title page has had a small section (1 inch by 1/4 inch) cut out apparently to remove an inscription. Lovely edition of this book with highly attractive cover and wonderful illustrations in black and white throughout by a number of eminent Victorian artists such as J.D Linton, F. Barnard, W. Small, J. Wolf and J.D. Watson.
