The Roman History - First edition - Both Volumes

£200.00

Product description

The Roman History From the Foundation of the City of Rome to the Destruction of the Western Empire by Dr Goldsmith in Two Volumes.

Printed in London in 1769 by S Baker, G Leigh, T Davies and L Davis.

The hardback books are in fair condition for their age, being edge worn, with staining to the cover, and there being some foxing. The pages are uncut and have an uneven edge. The binding is intact, with one loose page in the second volume, and the spine is crumbling at the top and bottom of both volumes (see photo).

A rare complete first edition by the Irish novelist, playwright and poet Oliver Goldsmith, who was a contemporary of Samuel Johnson.
