The Settlers in Canada

£12.99

Product description

Undated but C1890. Set in the Canadian wilderness of the 1790s. Written after the author visited Canada in 1837. This volume is illustrated by F.A. Fraser, illustrator of Dicken's "The Seven Poor Travellers". The story is about the Campbells, who, after loosing their family fortune, emigrate to Canada and take up farming near Lake Ontario. Inspite of the weather, hostile Indians and forest fires, they are able to make a success of pioneering rural life before their fortunes change again and they return to England.
Brown cloth decorative covers are lightly worn at the spine . The leading edge of the front and back covers are marked. Inside the front cover a bookplate has been covered up with paper. Front hinge is starting to crack. Light speckling and some tanning on the first free end papers. Frontis illustration by F A Fraser plus further full page and small in text illustrations. Text block edge a bit marked, but the pages are generally clean.
A good copy.

Oxfam Books & Music Olney

Welcome to Oxfam Books And Music Olney, situated just off the market square in Stanley Court opposite the Co-Op. Come and browse our extensive selection of books, music, DVDs, computer games and cards. In our shop you can discover a great range of material from the latest modern fiction to classic literature and vintage LPs. We are always happy to receive your donations of books or music, and you can choose to Gift Aid them to Oxfam. We might also be able to collect particularly large donations - just ask. We are always interested in hearing from people who wish to volunteer with us. Just pop in to collect an application form.

Could you help us by collecting donations from donors homes? Our shop receives many offers of generous donations that we have to turn down as we do not have volunteers able to collect. We would ask you to collect in your own car, at your convenience and reimburse your petrol costs. It might be a couple of times a month and would make a really big difference to our ability to make money.
