This is an account of the first Swiss expedition to, at that time, unknown parts of the Himalayas. The purpose was mainly geological and the eight months covered locations across both Tibet and Nepal. The text is illustrated with 220 photogravure plates plus line sketches of details.

Hardback book in good condition. Green cloth boards. Top edge of text block gilt. Ends of spine bumped. Small stain to front board. Light foxing to other edges of text block. Map in pocket and bookseller's label on back pastedown.

With dust jacket in fair condition in removable protective wrapper. Not price clipped. Price shown 21/-. Ends of spine and corners bumped and chipped, paper loss at ends of spine. Back cover has been torn and repaired with selloptape. Shelf wear and creasing to edges, with some tears. Back cover grubby

Oxfam Books & Music Berkhamsted

Located in the centre of the historic market town, we are open seven days a week. You will find a wide and interesting range of stock, including a great selection of children's books, popular and classical music on vinyl and CD, vintage Penguins and other paperbacks, and quirky and collectable items. Our stock is selected by knowledgeable volunteers, catering for both general readers and specialists. We are happy to check our backroom stock for wanted items and also offer a request service. Our themed windows are usually changed every two weeks, with our December Christmas displays offering a diverse and unusual range of gift ideas.

We welcome your donations, which can be brought to the rear of the building (via the Lower Kings Road Car Park). Please contact us before bringing large quantities to discuss arrangements.
