Fantasy novel by William Morris (famous English, Victorian textile designer, poet, novelist, translator, and socialist activist). 1897 edition, published by Longmans and printed in the USA. Used hardback in fair condition. No dustjacket. Red cloth boards are variously worn, bumped and faded, with wear particularly pronounced at the spine (closed tear of 2cm at the bottom). The white title panel on the spine is very worn and only just legible. The spine is slightly cocked. Endpaper hinges are cracked (particularly at the rear) and there is a gutter break at p 100, with one or two incipient breaks throughout, although the binding is still secure. There is light spotting throughout, but particularly at the front and rear of the book. There is an inked dedication with date at the front free endpaper. 553 pages plus an additional page of publishers listings.
