The Wonderland of Knowledge

£60.00 Out Of Stock

Product description

Subtitled "An Up-To-Date Illustrated Encyclopaedia"

All 12 volumes of the scarcer quarter leather bound edition. Blue textured cloth covered boards with leather-bound spine wrapping 1/4 way over the boards with matching protective leather corner pieces. The boards are bare, but the spine has 5 raised bands and is covered with book details and decoration in gilt. The top page edges are also gilt. The spines show some wear consummate with age.

There are no inscriptions and the text appears to be unmarked but we are unable to check thoroughly. Overall the set is in good condition, some volumes appear to have rarely been used, others, volume 12 with the index for example, show more signs of use. As to be expected of reference books of this age there some are issues, the major ones that we are aware of are:

Volume 1 has a stain on the cloth part of the front board.
Volume 2 the front board is detached from the text block, but attached to the spine, clean break can be repaired.
Volume 12, which contains the index, the boards are loose, particularly the rear one, but still attached.
