11 volumes from a set of 15, published in 1895 by J.B. Lippincott & Co, Philadelphia. This is number 1084 of a limited edition of 1,500 copies.

Dark green cloth board covers with title labels on spine. Many pages still uncut. Contains engravings/illustrations. Labels are rubbed but legible. Despite some age-darkening of the spine, all 11 volumes are in reasonably good condition. Requires 19 inches (49 cms) of shelf space.

Volumes 1 to 3 are missing, as is vol 7 and vol 9. Present are 3 volumes on Ferdinand & Isabella; part 2 of Conquest of Peru; parts 2 & 3 of Philip II; parts 1-3 of Charles the Fifth; 1 volume of Critical Miscellanies and 1 volume of 'Life of William Hickling Prescott' by George Ticknor.

Begun in 1837, this is an attractive work on the history of Spain in the 15th and 16th centuries.
