Tiny Tots: A magazine for very little folks.

£19.99

Product description

Tiny Tots was a monthly magazine produced over many years (1899 - 1929) which, as its name implies, was directed to a market of very small children. The present book is probably a collection of material from several individual issues but there is no information in the presenting pages. There is mention of six monthly volumes but there are no individual dates. Each article/song/poem is illustrated with either page etchings or small line drawings. None of the artists is named. There is a coloured frontispiece of a classroom of anthropomorphic animals reminiscent of Louis Wain, but, again, there is no attribution.

Cassell 1901 hardback with no DJ. The design on the front cover is the rear view of three little girls; on the rear there is an advertisement for Mellin's food and there are further adverts. for the end pages of both front and rear. The boards show moderate edge wear and considerable corner wear. The first fold is almost detached - held only at its lower part. The remainder of the binding is surprisingly good. There are one or two pen marks including an owner's name on p 3. There is also a vertical tear in the lower edge of P127 with no loss of material.

This must be a rare survival and, for all its somewhat marginal condition, is collector's material.
