Transactions of the British Archaeological Association at its Second Annual Congress held at Winchester August 1845

£19.99

Product description

Either complete transcripts or abbreviated versions of the 53 papers presented at Winchester. They are gathered under headings - Historical section/Primeval section/Mediaeval section/Architectural section and an appendix. Some 25 plates and line diagrams in the text (not with tissue covers).

Bohn hardback. Handsome volume with embossed pattern on outside of front back and spine and with a central gilt decoration in the middle of the front cover and gilt lettering to the spine cover. There is moderate wear to the top and bottom of the spine , the corners of the boards are bent and there are some bumps of the margins of the covers. This is an ex-library book: there is a book plate on the reverse of the front cover, an owner's name (dated 1920) on the ffep and a stencilled number on the lower part of the spine cover. Slightly surprisingly these are the only residual evidences of its library career. There are, however, some pencil marks against the components of the contents. A handwritten note is neatly tipped in at the end of the book commenting on some architectural matters. A little foxing scattered through the book. Binding good.

A very rare volume in really very good condition.
