Treatise of the theory and practise of sword and sabre fencing by the Napolitean Masaniello Parise, preceded by a historical note on fencing and dueling. Approved and selected by the Italian Ministry of War as the official syllabus of the newly founded Scuola Magistrale of fencing; now called Classical Italian Fencing, Parise's teachings survive to this day almost unchanged.
Red covers with gold lettering. Illustrated front end paper. Numerous technical illustrations. Some soiling and signs of age wear to covers and spine, traces of old label to spine. Binding stitches across the spine visible inside front cover, but binding of text block sound, text block compact and clean, with no inscriptions. Text in Italian.
