Product description

William the Silent

Written by Frederic Harrison.
Macmillan and Co., Ltd - 1897, 1st Edition Presentation Copy.

Book in okay condition. Due to its age, it contains imperfections such as marks, scuffs and bumps on the cover. In particular, slight water damage to the lower left corner of the cover. Pages quite aged but no smudges or major defects. Fore edges very dust-worn and smudged, as are the pastedowns and end sheets.

A biography of William I, Prince of Orange (24 April 1533 – 10 July 1584), also widely known as William the Silent, who was the main leader of the Dutch revolt against the Spanish Habsburgs that set off the Eighty Years' War and resulted in the formal independence of the United Provinces in 1648.

Made available as part of a commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable editions that are true to the original history of William I's role in the birth of the Dutch Republic.
