Eighteenth Century Artists and Engravers William Ward A.R.A. James Ward R.A. Their Lives and Work. Thirty Engravings. Dark green boards with outer cloth binding which have faded and frayed at edges and corners. Front and back boards show a lot of wear. There is gilt titling on the spine in a cartouche which is worn at the edges. Gilt titling on front board surrounded by gilt scroll design. End pages are foxed and carry a bookplate from a previous owner. There is evidence of repair where the end pages have loosened from the binding. Title pages are foxed and there is a frontispiece engraving titled "Two Ladies of Quality". The pages inside are rough edged, foxed and have pencilled notes in many margins.
