A Book of British Etching

WAS £24.99 £12.49

Product description

Subtitled as - "From Francis Barlow to Francis Seymour Haden". The book has cream cloth-covered boards and spine with the book title and subtitle in brown characters on the front cover. The same information together with the author and publisher names is on the spine in brown characters. Both the boards and the spine show signs of fading with what appear to be book shapes being seen. It is quite likely that the original cloth colour was a light olive. There are signs of foxing at the lower part of the front board. The book shows little bumping to its corners although there is some shelf wear, especially at the top of the spine where the cloth has torn. The hinges are strong especially considering the age of the book. The endpapers at both the front and rear of the book show signs of foxing. The top edge of the pages show that they have been well cut. They are coloured russet brown. The side and bottom edges of the pages have not been cut leaving a deckled finish. Many of the pages show signs of foxing especially near the deckled edges. The book contains many examples of etched pictures. Note that the pages carrying the etchings are better cut than the text pages.
